Once upon a time our backyards were filled with seasonal and self-sustaining gardens – pounds of heirloom tomatoes in the summer and gourds to last through the winter. Some of us may not have a backyard garden today, but that doesn’t mean you can’t eat healthy and fresh every day. That’s why we are passionate about bringing you produce that matches the farm to table experience so you never have to wonder what’s in your produce.

We start with quality.

The best way to know your produce is to know the people and the community behind cultivating each seed and tilling each field. So we focus on the entire harvest cycle – visiting the farms and meeting the folks who grow your food. We walk the fields and inspect the distribution centers.

But it doesn’t stop there. We handle each green leaf and tender shell with care in our store. We hand inspect each piece and gently mist leafy greens with Reverse Osmosis water to ensure the quality of your food is never compromised. We also taste each item so we can share the flavor profiles and the best varieties with you. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it!

Our commitment to organic.

Nature is organic, so shouldn’t our food be? We think so, too. That’s why we planted our roots in a commitment to provide healthy, delicious and organic produce. Over 40 years later that commitment remains strong. We offer more Certified Organic produce than anyone else in the industry.

Organic works with nature, not against it. Organic farmers focus on biological and ecological processes for soil fertility and pest control, instead of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. It protects our land, our pollinators and our health. And did you know that Certified Organic is also GMO-free? There’s a lot of love wrapped up into organic – love handmade just for you by Mother Nature.

Local, from the farm to you.

There are farmers in your own backyard and we relish the opportunity to bring fresh, local produce to your table. Our local farmers take pride in growing heirloom varieties and everyday seasonal favorites. It’s a taste profile that’s hard to beat – crisp, sweet and loaded with flavor.

But it’s not just about flavor. Eating homegrown produce brings your food closer and reestablishes the time-honored connection between eater and grower. Locally grown produce supports the local community and these small, well-managed farms preserve soil health and protect our water. In the US, one-fifth of all petroleum consumption is used in the agriculture business.¹ So less ‘travel time’ means purchasing local also reduces our carbon footprint.

Cut fresh for you.

Not everyone has time to be a sous chef. Busy weeknight meals and breakfast on-the-go can make it hard to peel, chop and dice. So let us do it for you! We prepare our fresh cut produce every day, hand cut by our skilled team and not by a machine. From cored pineapple and stir fry mixes to our signature guacamole and salsa, we have exactly what you need to bring convenience and health to your table.

Friendly flowers.

Sometimes you just need flowers and our fresh cut flowers can brighten any day. We offer Rainforest Alliance, Veriflora and Florverde certifications so you can have confidence that your purchase supports social and environmental health. And with a 5-day freshness guarantee our flowers will stay vibrant and beautiful in your home.

Ready to grow your own garden? We also have fruit and vegetable starter kits and biodynamic seeds so you can cultivate seedlings for your own table.

Our produce is fresh.

When we eat produce, we eat it for health – to be clean and vibrant on the inside. So it’s important to know where your produce comes from and what’s on it. That’s why we make it easy for you, by offering the broadest selection of local and organic fruit and veggies. And we continue to steward movements in healthy food, from local and organic to biodynamic farming and fair trade. Because our mission is to help you forge new and familiar paths to pure, real food.
