When we take a supplement or cleanse our face, we’re not doing it as mere routine. We’re doing it to feel better and to take care of our body from the inside out. Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body? It absorbs everything you put on it – from lip balm and moisturizer to soap and deodorant. The beauty products and supplements you use are food for your body and it’s incredibly important to know what is in every bottle, tube and jar.
At Earth Fare, our beginnings are rooted in health and wellness. Our first store opened in Asheville, North Carolina in 1975, offering a simple fare of bulk foods and wellness products. The idea was to take back your health, not just by what you do but instead by what you consume. It’s a passion that thrives today in every aisle of our stores. And when you step into our Wellness Department you can be confident that we’ve read every label so you don’t have to.
The highest quality, always.
Wellness and beauty has a lot to offer – there’s a lot to learn and a lot to digest. So the last thing we want you to worry about is the quality of your wellness or beauty products. Our Wellness and Beauty Standards apply to every product we carry and include:
- Cruelty-free and never tested on animals.
- Meet all required government regulations.
- No artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners.
- No rBGH in animal proteins.
- No irradiated herbs in bulk.
Our Quality Standards provide the ideal lens to look at every new product that we bring into our stores. It’s especially important to help us evaluate new ingredients and trends, which must meet our Quality Standards and philosophy – because your health is not a popularity contest. We carry a full range for special dietary needs, like vegan and gluten free, and you can always find a Trusted Advisor in our Wellness Department to answer questions or provide recommendations.
We only partner with suppliers of the highest integrity and commitment. Our own Earth Fare brand supplements are gluten free and are packaged in amber glass bottles to best preserve the integrity of each ingredient.
Beauty should be cruelty-free.
We may not always think about the journey of our beauty products, but we should. More than 80% of the world, including the U.S., still allows animals to be used for testing of cosmetic products. But it doesn’t have to be this way. There are several companies leading the way with quicker, cheaper and more reliable non-animal methods, and many ingredients (especially the best ones from Mother Nature) are already known to be safe.
We believe that beauty should be absolutely cruelty-free. That’s why each product on our shelves is handpicked by our team to ensure no animal testing was involved. It means you can shop our entire selection without worry or the need to read the fine print. But if you are on the hunt for a special certification, like the Leaping Bunny or PETA, you can find that too. We are proud of the brands we carry and their efforts to provide the absolute best beauty products, made safe for you without the need to test on animals.
Wellness for you and the planet.
Wellness is a choice you make to take better care of yourself. But we know that it’s also important to take care of the Earth, as well as the dedicated farmers and artisans who tend each ingredient from the ground up. We make it a priority to work with environmentally and socially responsible companies dedicated to a holistic vision of health – health for you, your neighbors and the planet. You can find a plethora of options on our shelves, including organic, non-GMO, sustainable and environmentally friendly ingredients, Fair Trade and B-Corp. Certified. You can also find plant-based and naturally derived ingredients, along with pure essential oils that use only gentle and safe preservatives.
Beauty and wellness is an important part of your daily routine, but it doesn’t have to be hard. We have a rich history of providing the best products from companies who have led the way in purity and environmental stewardship before it was popular. And you can pick up any product from our shelves and know that it’s good for you and the planet.
