Tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) is an additive used to preserve processed foods. It also acts as an antioxidant used to extend shelf life and slow or prevent food spoilage in snacks, noodles, frozen fish and more. While the FDA limits the use of TBHQ, it accounts for up to 0.02% of the oils in certain foods. Some research has suggested an impact on vision health, liver health, is listed on the “do not consume” Feingold Diet for those with ADHD.
