THE BOOT LIST ITEM #129

Sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB), is an emulsifier derived from sugar. It is used by manufacturers due to its emulsifying abilities of flavoring oils and flavored beverages. It prevents separation flavors from water, and is commonly used in beer, malt beverages and other flavored drinks. While there are no known severe health risks, it could cause itching, redness, dryness or peeling (especially when used in cosmetics). Always read ingredient labels and consider alternatives when possible.
