Polysorbate 60 is an emulsifier, surfactant, solubilizer and a versatile ingredient used in both cosmetics and food products. As an emulsifier, it is used to easily blend ingredients, and extend shelf life in foods like frozen pizzas, baked goods and snacks. There is ongoing controversy regarding the ethoxylation process of this ingredient which could result in unknown levels of dioxane a potential carcinogen.
