THE BOOT LIST ITEM #80

Solvent extraction is a highly efficient technique used to recover oil from oilseeds. Once the oilseed is ground and washed with a liquid solvent, the solvent-oil mixture is heated which causes the solvent to evaporate leaving the remaining extracted oil. This is a common method used in facilities to extract oil, however if the oilseed is not properly washed and purged there could be solvent residue left behind. For this reason, strict regulations exist but are not promised to leave the oil 100% free of hexane residue. Opt for healthier alternatives like avocado and coconut oil when possible.
