Ammonium Sulfate is an inorganic salt with various uses. It’s widely used as a soil fertilizer. In food, it’s considered safe by regulatory bodies. It acts as an acidity regulator in flours and breads. Ammonium sulfate strengthens dough, stabilizes it, and enhances bread quality. It supports yeast growth and survival in baked goods like pita, bagels, and muffins. Eating or drinking it may cause gastrointestinal irritation (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). While not toxic in small quantities, it’s best to consume it moderately.
Fermentation enhancer.
Skin and eye irritation. High exposure may cause nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting.
