Methyl Silicone, also known as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), is a type of silicone compound. It offers it’s anti foaming agents to the food industry in cooking oils, processed foods, and fast food. Specifically and most commonly known for it’s ability to withstand heat and prevent cooking oil from foaming, bubbling and splashing. This also means it is an emulsifier. Outside the food industry it can be found in cosmetics as well. However, silicone is not biodegradable and requires specialized facilities to recycle it, making it less eco-friendly.
