THE BOOT LIST ITEM #34

Cottonseed Oils are extracted from cotton seeds! Each seed contains 15%-20% oil, making seeds valuable in the food industry. Specifically cottonseed oil is high in saturated fat, and is used in a wide variety of fried, processed and baked foods. It’s even used in laundry detergent, cosmetics and as an insecticide as unrefined cottonseed oil contains a natural toxin which protects the plants from insects. Speaking of insects, cotton is not classified as a food crop and is heavily sprayed with pesticides which can cause skin rashes and other side effects when consumed. For cooking, consider healthier alternatives like olive oil or avocado oil.
