THE BOOT LIST ITEM #5

Artificial fats, also known as industrial trans fats or partially hydrogenated fats, are particularly hazardous to health. Found in products like crackers, cookies, pies, cakes, pizza, snacks, fast food, margarine, and shortening, these fats are derived from chemically altered vegetable oils. This chemical modification allows the oils to stay solid at room temperature, extending their shelf life. However, consuming artificial trans fats increases the risk of heart attack, heart disease, stroke, weight gain, and type 2 diabetes. They raise LDL (bad) cholesterol and lower HDL (good) cholesterol, significantly increasing the risk of heart disease.
