Earth Fare Market & Cafe will present a check in the amount of $4,095.99 to Meals on Wheels Monday, March 12, 2007, at 10:00 am, in Raleigh's Brierdale Shopping Center. Last year Earth Fare Market & Cafe partnered with our customers and participated in the food industry's annual Food For All Campaign. Food For All is a non-profit fundraising organization dedicated to putting an end to the hunger crisis on both national and international fronts. The retail point-of-purchase program, their primary fundraiser, appears at over 8,000 retail locations nationwide during the holidays. Earth Fare was honored to join in the fight against hunger. Customers selected donation coupons of $1, $3 or $5 and the amount was added to their final grocery bill. Thanks to all of the support from Earth Fare customers we raised $4.095.99. We chose Meals on Wheels to be the recipient of the amount raised. Meals on Wheels is a non-profit agency that provides nutritious home delivered meals to qualified adult residents who cannnot meet this need on their own. They primarily serve the elderly, disabled, convalescing and others who cannot provide for themselves. Founded in 1975, the program serves more than 300 Durham County residents each day, they are on track to exceed 80,000 meals in 2007. Since it's inception, Meals on Wheels of Durham has served more than a million meals.
