Earth Fare helps launch the 'Angel Fund" for Humane Society-Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

08/21/08

During the month of July, the Humane Society was chosen as the “Friend of Earth Fare,” which included a series of events and opportunities to educate the public about the Humane Society as well as raise funds. On August 9th, Earth Fare once again teamed up with the Humane Society for the 5% Pet Event, which featured fun, family activities, food, and services for four legged friends. The Humane Society was able to raise over $3,000 with the combination of both Earth Fare charity initiatives. With a portion of the money raised, the Humane Society is launching an innovative program to help pet owners who cannot afford veterinary services for life threatening illnesses or injuries to their pets – The Angel Fund.
The Angel Fund will start with the seed money raised at Earth Fare and develop into a program that donors can specifically support to help save lives of pets whose owners cannot cover their surgery/treatment needs. A memorial page will be set up on the HSPCA website as well, for folks who would like to honor their four legged friends who have passed away while supporting the Angel Fund. The cost of a perpetual memorial on the HSPCA website will be $250 with all proceeds benefitting the Angel Fund. Earth Fare is proud to help start this program and will continue to contribute to the Angel Fund through the Friend of Earth Fare program.
