PIEMDONT LAND CONSERVANCY

July 2008

The Piedmont Land Conservancy started as an idea in 1989 when several long-time residents met around a dining room table to discuss ways they could make a difference by forever conserving the Piedmont's most precious natural assets.

Incorporated in 1990 as a tax-exempt, non-profit, 501©(3) organization, the Piedmont Land Conservancy is dedicated to preserving natural and scenic lands, farms, and open spaces in Piedmont North Carolina to enrich the quality of life for our communities and for future generations.

Modeled after the North Carolina Nature Conservancy, PLC is not affiliated with any other organization and is supported entirely by members and friends in the Piedmont. PLC serves as the only local land trust serving the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.

Representing Alamance, Caswell, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties, PLC builds partnerships with public agencies, private organizations, landowners, corporations and individuals in order to save the best of our natural heritage. Since incorporation, the Conservancy has protected more than 11,000 acres of land to be enjoyed by the current and future residents of these nine counties as well as the people who travel through the region every year.
