Quimby's Story

Do you want to know more about Quimby, the sweet puppy who greets you every time you log in to Welcome Home? You’re in luck! He’s happy to share his story with you!

To My Earth Fare Friends:

My friend, Jack, tells me that many of our Earth Fare customers would like to know more about me. Truth be told, I find myself rather speechless to learn that so many of you want to know about my life’s experiences.

I was born on July 27, 2001 at “Good Time Goldens”, in Pound Ridge, New York. When I was eight weeks old, my new “mother and father” picked me out of eighteen other puppies and took me home with them to Armonk, New York, where I met my brother cat, Meow Meow, who let me lick him all over. They tell me that they chose me because I had a special kind of charm and warmth. Just between you and me, I knew that if I kissed them and snuggled up to them that they would love me forever. My mother and father also thought that I was very handsome and entered me into many dog shows where I won almost enough points to be a champion. But alas, I turned prematurely grey. Since I looked older than I was, the judges began to wonder why an “older” dog still needed championship points. So, that was the end of my show dog career, but I did not really care. I still felt like a champ, got treats and still was caressed by many people. I love to be pet and hugged, so what could be bad?

On April 5, 2006, Meow Meow and I moved to Asheville with our mother and father. Because one of my special talents is to make each person that I meet feel that they are my favorite person in the world, my father helped me pass the Paws with a Purpose test so that I could become a therapy dog at Mission Children’s Hospital where I can often be found at the Reuter’s Outpatient Center. I love to give unconditional love because it makes everyone’s day much brighter. It is quite easy for me to love the children and become their friend. If I can help them to feel less scared by becoming their companion for a short time, then I am the lucky one.

The one last piece that you might want to know is how I met my friend, Jack. Well, Jack is a little like me in that he makes everyone feel special. Also, like me, Jack is a people person who greets everyone with joy. What more do you need as a basis for friendship? Just don’t try to scratch his head or behind his ears….I do not think that he would like that very much. Probably, a friendly smile would do!

With Heart,

Quimby
