Changing for the Healthier with Meredith

I was 22 and on the verge of dropping out of college.

I was in love with my boyfriend who would later become the man I would marry and the father of my daughter. However, I was weak.

I loved to eat out and we went all of the time. I even remember a specific chain restaurant where I was hooked on the chicken fried chicken. I remember eating it three times in one week! I think back, who eats chicken fried chicken (with mashed potatoes, gravy, and a coke) three times a week?

A girl who began college with a full scholarship and at 120 pounds had blossomed to a college dropout who weighed 230 pounds.

My husband and I decided that enough was enough and we started following a few diet plans. However, developing the principal that we eat to live instead of living to eat really changed our lives. Of course I still love to eat, but adjusting my portion sizes and enjoying more natural foods helped us lose a substantial amount of weight.

Now 100 pounds lighter, a college graduate, a successful 9 year marriage, and a beautiful daughter, I learned that it's all about taking care of your body to grow and thrive.

We don't pour soda on our flowers and leave them in the dark. We give them plenty of water and sunshine. Exactly what we need.
